At the Union Church,
we take our commitment to outreach seriously. Jesus called us to reach out to those in need. Our efforts to respond to this
calling carry us into communities both near and far.
Our children, in their Sunday School, raise funds and do various
"hands on" projects. Funds have been sent to many places around the world, including Tsunami relief, for training guide animals
for the blind, and for the Heiffer Project, which sends animals to poor people around the world as a sustainable source of
farming income. In addition to these projects, our children have prepared food for the homeless shelter, have visited the
nursing homes, have made blankets for the homeless and have sent gift boxes to soldiers serving in Iraq. These are just a
few of the very meaningful outreach efforts of our children.
The church as a whole is very active in supporting the
P.A.D.S, program for the homeless as well as many other area agencies. These funds are raised through various fundraisers
during the year, highlighted by our Chili Supper Auction night. Our longest commitment has been to Barb DeSouza, a past member
of our church who works with the "poorest of the poor" in Rio De Janero in Brazil. She has established a medical clinic and
trains women as midwives in the communities. We are proud to support her work!
