Ten True Things About the Union Church

At the Union Church, we take our commitment to outreach seriously. Jesus called us to reach out to those in need. Our efforts to respond to this calling carry us into communities both near and far.

Our children, in their Sunday School, raise funds and do various "hands on" projects. Funds have been sent to many places around the world, including Tsunami relief, for training guide animals for the blind, and for the Heiffer Project, which sends animals to poor people around the world as a sustainable source of farming income. In addition to these projects, our children have prepared food for the homeless shelter, have visited the nursing homes, have made blankets for the homeless and have sent gift boxes to soldiers serving in Iraq. These are just a few of the very meaningful outreach efforts of our children.

The church as a whole is very active in supporting the P.A.D.S, program for the homeless as well as many other area agencies. These funds are raised through various fundraisers during the year, highlighted by our Chili Supper Auction night. We have also helped to support many local groups and agencies that workright here in Lake County including:YouthBuild, Morther's Trust, Zacharias Center, Holy Family Food Pantry, Lake County Cares, Bernie's Book Bank. Our committment reaches across the globe with donations to organizations such as The Red Cross, CARE, Bridges to Prosperity, and Soles4 Souls.

The Outreach Committee looks to strengthen our program by announcing the Living Your Faith Scholarship Program:

What is your calling? Sometimes God calls us to renew our commitments in our lives. Sometimes, God calls us to try something entirely new. As part of our continued outreach efforts, we have established a “Living Your Faith” scholarship.  Our hope is to provide “seed money” for an individual or a group in the church who has a calling to help other and simply needs a little financial assistance to get started.  If you are interested, please talk with Mark or Tracy or contact the Outreach Committee.
